My name is Yazan Al Jaouni. I am Palestinian-Jordanian, and I was born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. My childhood was mostly spent in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia throughout the school years, and in Amman, Jordan to visit extended family in the summers. Football (soccer) is the most popular sport in the region and has been a huge part of my life since I was 4 years old when I joined my first football club. Playing through the academy ranks in Saudi Arabia, I had the opportunity to come to the United States in 2021 on a soccer scholarship. I played 2 seasons of US college soccer between 2021-2023 and I decided to transfer to Portland State University in the fall of 2023. I was specifically interested in the Data Science program in Portland State University and I have learned a lot going through this program. It feels surreal that I am already a senior and I am looking forward to enjoy my final year as an undergrad student. The ICSP seems like a great opportunity for the general community to learn more about different countries as well as a learning opportunity for the ICSP members themselves to get to know more about one another and their own respective countries. Personally, I wish to gain more experience speaking in a public speech format; a format that the ICSP can provide.
